LECTURES

Lecture 1: Introduction to module - MIB Briefing + After Effects Exercise

7/1/19 (Week 1)

We were introduced to the module through the MIB briefing as the lecturers guided us through what to expect for this semester. This included the exercises and projects assigned for this module.

After the MIB briefing, we were instructed to do a simple exercise done through After Effects in order for us to get used to the application.

Lecture 2: Assignment Briefing + History of Information Visualization

8/1/19 (Week 1)

For this lecture, we had another briefing with Ms. Anis on the assignments for this module.

After the assignment briefing, Ms. Anis continued the lecture with a brief overview of the history of information visualization.

Lecture 3: Manuel Lima's 9 Directives Manifesto

9/1/19 (Week 1)


Instead of the usual lectures, we were introduced to FLIP presentations where students present the flip topic of the week with their allocated groups. This week, we did a presentation on the nine directives manifesto by Manuel Lima.

Lecture 4: Saul Wurman's L.A.T.C.H.

15/1/19 (Week 2)

The second flip topic was on Saul Wurman's L.A.T.C.H. that emphasizes on five principles: Location, Alphabet, Time, Category and Hierarchy.

Exercise 3 - Quantitative Charts - Button Infographic

8/1/19- 14/1/19 (Week 1- Week 2)

For this exercise, we were instructed to quantify the provided buttons in class as a form of data collection in order to create an infographic poster.

Exercise 4: L.A.T.C.H. (Location/Alphabet/Time/Category/Hierarchy)

14/1/19- 29/1/19 (Week 2 - Week 4)

For this exercise, we were instructed to use the LATCH principles as a guideline to organize four pokemon creatures into a 30 seconds animated video without any use of audio.
